This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with litigation experience to grow their careers across a broad spectrum of business and consumer litigation on behalf of managed healthcare clients, including physician groups and health plans, in complex litigation and regulatory matters. The role offers a unique opportunity to work across a diverse docket, handling both sophisticated business disputes and healthcare-related litigation.

The Position
This role will involve defending and advising managed healthcare clients, including physician groups, health plans, and related healthcare entities, in complex litigation and regulatory matters. The attorney will also handle a broader range of business and consumer litigation matters, including commercial disputes, reimbursement disputes, provider-payor issues, arbitration matters, and other healthcare-related litigation.
The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent analytical and writing skills, and an interest in working on sophisticated matters involving both healthcare and commercial litigation. Candidates do not need to have experience in every area listed but should have a strong litigation foundation and an interest in continuing to develop in this practice area.
Qualifications
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the state of California
- 3+ years of litigation experience
- Experience with commercial litigation, healthcare litigation, managed care, insurance defense, business litigation, or related civil litigation preferred
- Some background in managed care, insurance defense, or healthcare litigation preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, reimbursement disputes, provider-payor issues, or related regulatory frameworks preferred
- Experience with arbitration and alternative dispute resolution preferred
- Experience drafting discovery, pleadings, dispositive motions, and pretrial motions required
- Experience cross-examining plaintiffs, fact witnesses, and/or experts preferred
- Experience handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and client communications preferred
- Trial experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery and other legal documents
- Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation events
- Manage a litigation caseload as part of a collaborative team with increasing responsibility based on experience
- Work with clients, partners, and litigation teams on case strategy, legal analysis, and matter management
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice areas, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment
- Communicate with clients and provide status reports, case assessments, and other client-facing updates

A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
Salary Range:
$155,000 - $210,000 USD
