Associate Attorney - Business Litigation
Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Experience Level: 3-7+ years of experience in litigation required; business litigation and/or construction litigation experience preferred
About the Role: Harris Beach Murtha is seeking an associate with strong litigation experience to join its collaborative Business Litigation team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators across offices and practice areas, engage in sophisticated commercial disputes, and take on meaningful responsibility representing clients in state and federal courts, as well as in mediation and arbitration proceedings. The work is fast-paced, team-oriented, and provides hands-on experience managing complex business litigation matters from inception through resolution.
The Business Litigation Associate will have the opportunity to:
- Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Take and defend depositions of parties and fact witnesses
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys
- Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review and production
- Draft pleadings, memoranda, motions, and briefs
- Analyze records, transactions, and other evidence underlying business disputes and potential client claims
- Work across a variety of commercial litigation matters and collaborate with colleagues firmwide to deliver exceptional client service
Work Environment and Expectations:

- Minimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hours

- Admission to the Massachusetts bar (required)
- Admission to the Connecticut and/or New York bar (preferred)
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Experience litigating matters in Massachusetts state and federal court preferred
- Federal or state judicial clerkship experience (preferred)
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- The ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new information
- A high level of professionalism, conscientiousness, and responsibility
- A positive, flexible, and cooperative attitude
- Military experience welcome
