Position Overview
The Firm is seeking to add an Associate to its Trusts & Estates team in our Hackensack, New Jersey office. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced attorney to step into an established trusts and estates practice with an existing client base and significant responsibility from day one. The role will spearhead the preparation of wills and other wealth transfer documents for clients with varying family circumstances and levels of wealth.
Job Duties:
- Serve as primary attorney responsible for an established trusts and estates practice.
- Lead and advise clients and families on customized estate planning and wealth transfer strategies, probate proceedings and planning of complex estates.
- Draft, review, and oversee estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and related planning tools.
- Handle all aspects of trust administration, including fiduciary accounting.
- Manage the client experience from initial consultation through drafting, signing, and follow-up.
- Maintain knowledge of estate planning, tax, elder law, and asset protection developments to enable thoughtful legal guidance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in tax law, trust, and estate planning.
- JD degree required with excellent academic credentials.
- Admitted and in good standing in New Jersey.
- Tax, special needs planning and elder law experience are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong professional judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external clients.
- Proactiveness, resourcefulness, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and multi-task required.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary, an excellent benefits package and a collaborative, friendly environment.
The salary range for this role is $165,000-$215,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
