We are currently seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join our collaborative Office of Legal Affairs team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys and business professionals throughout the firm to identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest related to new business intake, client engagements, and lateral hiring initiatives. The Conflicts Attorney will provide thoughtful guidance on conflicts and ethics matters and support the preparation and review of ethical screens, conflict waivers, ethics-related disclosures, engagement letters, and Outside Counsel Guidelines.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful and detail-oriented attorney with strong analytical judgment, sound professional ethics, and the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically on sensitive conflicts and ethics matters.
This position may be based in either California or Colorado. The preferred work schedule for this role is 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or later.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze electronic information regarding new engagements and new hires to identify, report, and address potential legal, business, and positional conflict of interest issues.
- Conduct electronic research using Westlaw, Google, and other research tools to identify, eliminate, clarify, and resolve conflict and ethics related issues.
- Analyze and resolve conflict of interest issues and provide meaningful and concise information regarding same to firm attorneys.
- Prepare, review and/or analyze engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, ethics related disclosures, waivers, ethical screens, and disengagement letters.
- Analyze work of others in the Office of Legal Affairs and provide necessary guidance related to conflict of interest and ethics issues.
- Communicate extensively with firm attorneys, business professionals, General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel – Conflicts to facilitate identification and resolution of conflict issues or other business issues.
- Assist in development of training and education programs for legal and non-legal staff regarding conflict of interest issues, client intake systems, methods, and procedures.
- Close client and/or matter accounts according to firm policy or as requested.
Job Requirements:
- JD degree and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm; active bar license in good standing strongly preferred.
- At least three years of experience conducting electronic research, with familiarity with Intapp conflicts and client intake software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, and conflicts-related programs; prior experience with Aderant a plus.
- Working knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and experience with legal ethics and conflicts issues in a law firm environment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, legal research, and writing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to discuss and resolve conflicts and ethics issues effectively and diplomatically with firm attorneys and business professionals.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work efficiently and independently on multiple projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

The pay range for this role accounts for the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. For applicants physically based in California, a reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $150,000 - $180,000. For applicants physically based in Colorado, a reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $145,000 - $165,000. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.
