Discovery Attorney - Debt Recovery Litigation

The Discovery Attorney will manage and execute the full spectrum of discovery matters across Texas collection litigation. This role requires strong knowledge of discovery rules, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to guide the discovery process by reviewing and refining team output, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with all discovery obligations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-volume environment.
Discovery Management
- Draft, review, and respond to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for admission, and requests for production.
- Review and finalize document productions for accuracy, completeness, and privilege compliance.
- Maintain and refine discovery templates, workflows, and best practices.
- Evaluate objections, privilege issues, and compliance risks.
Litigation Support
- Partner with attorneys, paralegals, and support teams to ensure discovery obligations are met on time.
- Review case files and client documentation to identify responsive materials.
- Assist with deposition preparation and discovery-related hearings, as needed.
- Support trial preparation by organizing key documents, evidence, and witness information.
Work Product Review & Collaboration
- Review, edit, and quality-check discovery responses, productions, and related work product prepared by junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm and client standards.
- Serve as a resource for questions related to discovery strategy, objections, and best practices.
- Collaborate with clients, custodians, and third-party vendors regarding data and document requests.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all discovery output complies with federal and state rules, court orders, and ethical standards.
- Stay current on developments in discovery law, e-discovery practices, and collections litigation.
- Maintain alignment with CFPB, FDCPA, and other industry-specific regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed and in Good Standing to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze cases and negotiate effective settlements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and client service.
