Lateral Associate - Litigation: Intellectual Property
Sullivan & Cromwell is seeking associates with intellectual property (IP) litigation experience to join the Firm's Litigation Group, including to work with the IP and Technology Litigation Group. Ideal candidates should have at least two years of experience working on IP litigation matters at a comparable law firm. Candidates with a strong academic background are preferred.
This is an opportunity for experienced lawyers, and as such, current law students are not eligible for consideration for this particular role.
About the IP Litigation Group:
The Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation Group advises clients on a broad range of IP and technology issues confronting today’s businesses. The Group combines trial experience with a background in handling complex intellectual property disputes, including those that raise antitrust and competition law issues. The Group’s litigation work includes enforcing patents, trade secrets, trademarks and other IP rights and defending against claims of infringement, as well as litigation concerning patent license agreements and other contracts that involve technology or IP rights.
The Group skillfully and clearly communicates the most complex technical issues to lay judges and juries. Lawyers in the IP and Technology Litigation Group have substantial experience representing clients in both bench, and jury trials and arbitrations, and regularly appear in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as other trial, appellate, and administrative law venues around the country.
In addition to work on active litigations, S&C’s IP and Technology Litigation Group regularly counsel clients on a wide range of strategic and day-to-day issues associated with the development, acquisition and maintenance of intellectual property portfolios. We routinely consult on trade secret protection, patent pools and joint licensing programs, brand strategy, trademark clearance, and monetization strategies. We also assist companies in the interpretation and application of various licensing arrangements. And the IP and Technology Group regularly works with S&C’s IP and Technology Transactions Group to advise on litigation-related matters that arise in the context of IP transactions.
