Appellate Litigation Associate – Seattle or Portland

Ballard Spahr LLP, which recently combined with Lane Powell PC, is seeking a highly qualified associate to join its Appellate Litigation practice in Seattle, Portland, or possibly another Ballard location (please inquire). The ideal candidate will have had, or currently be serving in, a federal or state appellate court clerkship and have at least 2 to 5 years of civil litigation experience. Exceptional legal research, writing and analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong academic credentials are required. This position provides a unique opportunity for brief writing, preparing advocates for oral argument and giving oral argument, and assisting trial teams with strategy, significant motions, and issue preservation in courts across the country. Qualified candidates must be admitted to (or eligible to waive into) the Washington, Oregon, or respective State Bar of their office location. Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is from $220,000 to $275,000 for Seattle, and $205,000 to $245,000 for Portland, which reflects the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will depend on several factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location In addition to the salary for this position, lawyers may be eligible for an incentive bonus program and/or a profit-sharing bonus program.
