Our Construction practice group handles a variety of matters for a diverse group of clients, including owners, developers, general contractors, and design professionals.  Our attorneys litigate and arbitrate some of the largest construction claims in North Carolina.  They also negotiate complex construction contracts throughout the country.  This is an opportunity to join a thriving and growing construction practice in the heart of a growing state with an active construction market.  It is anticipated that the person hired for this position will work closely with other partners and senior associates on construction disputes involving claims of delay, disruptions, and defects, as well as on construction contracting matters.
 
While the ideal candidate has between three to five years' litigation and/or contracting experience at a large or mid-size law firm, less experience will be considered if the candidate can demonstrate a strong in construction law.  While experience in construction litigation and construction contracting is preferred, candidates with a demonstrated and specific interest in the practice of construction law will be considered regardless of the prior experience in the field.  Construction, engineering, or architectural industry experience prior to law school is preferred, but not essential.  Additionally, the candidate should exhibit the following skills and characteristics:

  • Ability to interact directly with clients, and work independently and as part of team
  • Exercise of judgment, use of practice problem solving, and willingness to take a leadership role in managing cases and other projects
  • Willingness to help continue to build a long-term practice
  • Strong academic credentials and writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to provide highest quality service to our clients
