Post-Clerk Associate (Chicago)
Jenner & Block (www.jenner.com) is seeking a mid-level or senior associate, with 3-6 years of experience, to join the energy practice in our busy and growing San Francisco office.
Our energy practice ranks as one of the nationâ s best in expertise and client service, and represents a wide range of entities, including electric and gas utilities, competitive generators, electric transmission owners, renewable and technology companies, and industry groups. Our work is at the intersection of litigation, regulation, and public policy.
The successful candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of fast-moving and complex matters, including litigation, regulatory proceedings, and client advice and counsel. Duties include legal research and writing, client counseling, drafting pleadings and briefs; drafting discovery requests and responses; preparing for and attending witness interviews and depositions; working with experts; conducting oral arguments; attending court hearings and trials; participating in other advocacy before a variety of governmental agencies; and handling case management responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree plus 3-6 years of litigation and/or regulatory experience.
- Candidate should be a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong academic credentials are required.
- Demonstrated case management experience.
- Candidate possesses a strong commitment to pro bono representation.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment is essential.
- Membership in the California Bar is required.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be $260,000 â $390,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
