Work on London insurance market energy and property claims involving Texas law and/or Insureds.


  • Research London Market claims, jurisdiction, and legal implications of insurance policies including where those policies involve Texas law but are subject to unique London Market practice.


  • Research Texas law and jurisdictional issues that arise under large claims including those involving international parties.


  • Research and apply London market policies as under Texas law regarding property insurance claims.


  • Provide legal advice, assistance and representation on Texas law and Texas-based insured property claims to understand and gain exposure to Texas legal system and specificities of the same in order to apply the learnings gained to London market-specific work.


  • Determine insurance policies’ relevant arbitration clauses and substantive law jurisdictions to determine governing body and resolution of issues that may arise.


  • Meet with clients to explain the implications of the law on their case and facilitate claim resolution both internationally and across interested parties including insureds and brokers.


  • Strategize with the client, insurer, and insured to pursue policy claims are resolved reasonably and timely.


  • Attend continuing education presentations to maintain knowledge and ensure growth whilst learning local practice.


  • Market to existing London market insurance clients concerning our expanded offering in Dallas as well as marketing to new clients for the same.


  • Train and assist other Dallas and US based attorneys in the peculiarities and specificities of the London insurance market and expectations of clients operating within the same space.


Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) or foreign equivalent and 2 years of experience as an attorney in the global insurance market.


  • U.K. Solicitor’s Practicing Certificate 


  • Admission to Texas Bar or ability to become admitted within 12 months of hire.


  • 2 years of legal experience with each of the following: 
  • London Insurance Market;
  • Property Insurance Matters; and 
  • Energy Insurance.

Hybrid work is permitted 1 day per week.


Travel within U.S. (10%) and to London 2 weeks per year.
