Associate Attorney – Litigation (South Carolina)

Hutchens Law Firm is seeking a driven and motivated Associate Attorney to join our Litigation practice in South Carolina. In this role, you will represent individual and business clients in a variety of litigation, business, and real estate matters in both State and Federal Courts.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney to gain meaningful courtroom experience, develop litigation skills, and grow within a collaborative and established firm.
Position Overview
As an Associate Attorney, you will be an integral part of our litigation team, managing cases from inception through resolution while working closely with clients, attorneys, and support staff in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in court proceedings, including trials, motion hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and memoranda of law
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel
- Review residential real estate title searches and loan documentation
- Manage multiple cases and deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in South Carolina
- 1–3 years of experience in civil and/or real estate litigation
- Completion of South Carolina Rule 403 requirements
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex legal and business documents
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Experience
- Litigation experience in state and/or federal courts
- Experience with real estate law and title review

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment. The role is primarily sedentary but may involve occasional filing, lifting (up to 15 lbs), and movement within the office.
