Supervising Attorney, Plaintiff Practice

The Jeffcoat Firm
CHECK LOCATION Full Time
Reference: TheJeffcoatFirm4237861

This is an exceptional opportunity to step into a senior leadership role at a plaintiff law firm that is experiencing significant and deliberate growth — not just in case volume, but in the quality and complexity of the cases we pursue. We are building something meaningful here: a firm defined by rigorous legal advocacy, outstanding client experiences, and a culture grounded in shared values.

The Supervising Attorney, Plaintiff Practice is a licensed attorney in South Carolina who will serve as a cornerstone of our legal team. This individual is both a skilled litigator and a natural leader — someone who leads by example, invests in others, and takes genuine ownership of the team’s performance and professional growth. They understand that how we treat our clients, our colleagues, and our cases is an expression of the same commitment to excellence.

This role sits at the intersection of legal leadership, operational partnership, and culture stewardship. The right candidate will bring deep plaintiff litigation experience, strong instincts for coaching and developing attorneys, and a passion for delivering outcomes that clients remember — and refer others to.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Attorney Performance

Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing team of plaintiff attorneys, ensuring every member of the team is operating at the level our clients and cases demand.

· Provide direct supervision and day-to-day leadership to the plaintiff attorney team, setting clear performance expectations and holding attorneys accountable to quality and productivity standards.

· Conduct regular one-on-ones, case reviews, and team meetings to monitor performance, surface challenges early, and maintain momentum across the caseload.

· Partner with firm leadership on performance management matters, including the recognition of high-performing attorneys and their best practices.

· Monitor key performance indicators across the attorney team — including case progression rates, resolution timelines, client satisfaction metrics, and litigation outcomes — and drive corrective action where needed.

· Build a bench of strong attorneys by identifying talent, supporting growth into expanded responsibilities, and contributing to attorney hiring and onboarding decisions.

· Create a team environment that is collaborative, accountable, and energized by the mission of achieving exceptional outcomes for every client.

Litigation Excellence & Attorney Development

Serve as the firm’s principal resource for litigation best practices, actively teaching, coaching, and developing attorneys at every level of experience.

· Design and deliver structured training programs covering core plaintiff litigation competencies, including case investigation, discovery, deposition strategy, motion practice, negotiation, and trial preparation.

· Conduct regular case-level coaching sessions, using real matters as teaching opportunities to reinforce best practices and build attorney confidence and skill.

· Establish firm-wide litigation standards that reflect current best practices in South Carolina (and more broadly with regional growth) plaintiff litigation and ensure consistent adoption across the team.

· Mentor early career and mid-level attorneys with intentionality — investing time in their development, building their litigation instincts, and preparing them for greater independence and responsibility.

· Stay current on developments in plaintiff litigation law, court rules, and jury trends in South Carolina and other applicable states and proactively share relevant insights with the team.

· Foster a learning culture in which attorneys are encouraged to ask questions, reflect on outcomes, and continuously improve their craft.

Operations Partnership & Case Lifecycle Efficiency

Collaborate closely with operations leadership to ensure the attorney team and operational infrastructure are working in alignment to move cases forward with speed, consistency, and quality.

· Partner with the operations team to identify and eliminate bottlenecks across the case lifecycle — from intake and investigation through litigation, negotiation, resolution, and disbursements.

· Participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives, bringing the legal perspective to workflow design and ensuring attorney processes align with operational best practices.

· Ensure the attorney team is effectively utilizing the firm’s technology platforms (including case management systems and document management tools) to drive efficiency and reduce cycle times.

· Champion a “speed with quality” mindset across the attorney team, reinforcing that timely case progression is itself an expression of excellent client service.

· Engage proactively with operations leaders to surface recurring friction points and co-develop sustainable solutions that benefit both teams and the clients they serve.

· Contribute to the development and refinement of firm-wide KPIs that reflect the full arc of the case lifecycle and use those metrics to drive attorney team accountability.

Exceptional Client Experience & Brand Stewardship

Champion a client-first mindset across the attorney team, recognizing that every interaction, every communication, and every case outcome is an expression of the firm’s brand and its commitment to those it serves.

· Set and model the standard for client communication excellence — ensuring clients are informed, respected, and made to feel like priorities at every stage of their case.

· Establish and reinforce protocols for proactive client updates, responsiveness standards, and empathetic communication during difficult moments in the litigation process.

· Conduct regular reviews of client feedback and satisfaction data, using insights to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement in attorney-client interactions.

· Understand that a remarkable client experience is the firm’s most powerful engine for reputation, referrals, and growth — and ensure the attorney team fully embraces this connection.

· Address client concerns and escalations with professionalism and urgency, modeling how to turn difficult situations into trust-building moments.

· Encourage and support processes that make it easy for satisfied clients to share their experiences, contributing directly to the firm’s referral network and market reputation.

Culture Leadership & Values Integration

Serve as a visible and committed steward of the firm’s culture — ensuring that the firm’s Core Values are not aspirational statements on a wall, but living principles embedded in how the team works, leads, and treats one another every day.

· Model the firm’s Core Values consistently and visibly, creating a standard of conduct that the team aspires to and is held to.

· Integrate cultural expectations into hiring, onboarding, performance conversations, and day-to-day leadership — making clear that values alignment is a non-negotiable element of success at the firm.

· Create space for honest dialogue, psychological safety, and mutual respect within the attorney team, building an environment where people do their best work and feel genuinely valued.

· Recognize and celebrate behaviors that reflect the firm’s Core Values, reinforcing the connection between culture and performance.

· Be a consistent voice for the firm’s mission — that doing right by clients, doing right by colleagues, and doing right by the community are all part of the same commitment.
