Position Summary
The paralegal is a vital member of the litigation case team. They are responsible for general case maintenance and case support. The litigation paralegal works directly with attorneys, clerks, and other firm support departments and is responsible for overseeing case projects. Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and conscientious, have exceptional organization and communication skills, and a sharp eye for detail. Above-average oral and written skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills are requisite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Experience with timekeeping and expense reporting applications
Online research (LexisNexis/Westlaw, PACER, CM/ECF)
Prepares motion papers, court filings, and correspondence; liaises between various litigation support departments
Organize, review and maintain documents and case files; compile documents for ECF filings
Conduct electronic document reviews, conduct searches of production databases for documents
Bates and confidentiality stamping in Adobe Acrobat when producing documents outside of electronic database
Delivers electronic media and corresponding cover letters, tracks delivery of production materials
Assist attorneys with preparation of materials such as assembling exhibits and relevant documents for depositions, trials and arbitrations
Reserves conference rooms and in-house services, and arranges for court reporter and videographer services for on-site depositions
Organizes and maintains electronic record of deposition transcripts, videos, and hard copy record of original and certified transcripts
Reviews transcripts and videos for errata
Knowledge of cite-checking/Bluebook
Draft TOA/TOC
Assist with additional case related projects as needed
Assist with training and mentoring entry level paralegals
Overtime and travel may be required
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (required)
Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program (preferred)
Minimum of 2 years litigation experience in state and federal trial courts (required)
Technologies
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and other office tools including document review software, document management system required
Compensation
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $80,000 - $90,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
